Father Carbone, former pastor in KC, dies at 71


KINGSTON R.I. - Scalabrinian Father Angelo Carbone, 71, died Sept. 19 at Villa Scalabrini in North Kingston.

Father Carbone was born June 8, 1931, in Boston. He attended Sacred Heart Seminary in Stone Park, Ill., and St. Charles Seminary in Staten Island, N.Y., before being ordained to the priesthood on June 10, 1956.

Father Carbone's first assignment was as associate pastor of St. John the Baptist Parish in Kansas City, Mo. He later served at various parishes in Illinois and California. He became pastor of Holy Rosary Parish in Kansas City in 1991, and retired to St. Charles Scalabrini residence in 2000.

A memorial Mass was celebrated Sept. 25 at Holy Rosary Church. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Scalabrini Scholarship Fund in care of Holy Rosary Church, 911 E. Missouri Ave., Kansas City, MO, 64106.
