The workbook discusses the challenges of planning for the Triduum, which some consider to be the most challenging celebration of the liturgical year. Walker's book takes the reader through the phases of formation, preparation and celebration, and is filled with recommendations for expanding the parish volunteer base, and then training, forming and involving them in the celebration.
Included are worksheets, a timeline with reproducible checklists, and an overview of the celebration.
The idea for the workbook came from a column Walker wrote for Ministry & Liturgy magazine, published by Resource Publications. In the column, Walker outlined some checklists for use in preparing for Triduum liturgical celebrations. The publisher asked if she would be interested in writing a book on the same subject.
"The whole idea is that the more you involve people in the preparation of the Triduum, the more people will have a greater appreciation for it," Walker said. "I think everyone struggles with attendance at Triduum liturgies, which is too bad because they can be life-changing experiences. I don't think anyone regrets having attended, but getting them there to begin with is hard.
"But if people have had something to do with the preparation of the liturgies, they will be more likely to attend."
Father Paul Turner, pastor of St. Munchin Parish in Cameron, said in a release from the publisher, "So you need to plan the Triduum. Don't panic! This short book gives you practical advice to announce the event, involve the parish, gather the assembly and praise God."
Walker is in her 13th year as director of liturgy at St. Mark. She earned a master's degree in pastoral studies from Loyola University in New Orleans.
